Ernie has been the "must see" cat of Ashland for over 10 years. With his 20-pound stature, he proudly rules and watches over our store 24 hours a day. We definitely lucked out when he was delivered to us by the local Humane Society in 1992.
Ernie is gentle and loving and a favorite with the locals and tourists. Most of his day is spent "power lounging" while soaking up the vast amount of attention he receives from all of his admirers. But don't let him fool you. He has been known to make a mad dash for the door and escape.
As a resident of our store for over 10 years, we have gotten to know him pretty well. And we must say he is particular. Here are of few of his favorites.

Of course when you are this particular, one tends to have their dislikes. We must say Ernie is no different. Here are a few things that DO NOT tickle his fancy.

People always ask us why Ernie is so famous. Although we don't have an exact answer, we think it's due to his dubious charm and incredible size. Ernie regularly receives cards and letters from all over the world. He has been on nationally televised newscasts and has been featured in several newspapers across the country. Every October we have a birthday party for him. Although his birthday is officially October 30th, we have his party on the last weekend the Shakespeare Theater is open so everyone can enjoy the event. And what an event it is! One year, over 500 people attended his party.
So when you're in Ashland, come by and see him. We know he would love it!
